Huchu Homare was established in 1854 and is now run by the 7th generation of the Yamauchi family, Takaaki “Taka” Yamauchi. When the brewery was founded, its inaugural brand was Taiheikai, which means “Pacific Ocean.” The brewery made history in the early 1990s when Taka Yamauchi revived the extinct Watari Bune rice, launching a special line of sake to celebrate the return of this unique rice variety.
